I grew up in a small town where my family lived for sports. We were either in the gym or at the field most every evening and weekend. I typically lifted weights or worked out before school. During the summer I lived on the back of a hay wagon, so I stayed in pretty good shape. After my freshman year of college it went downhill from there; I tried to work out but could never get a good routine. After college I would run from time to time, but again with little kids and a busy work schedule I could never get into a routine.
My brother in-law was always talking about CrossFit and I had been lifting weights for a little over year and was bored with it, so I decided to try it. I was pretty nervous at first that I would injure my-self, but I saw right off of the bat that the LandRush Coaches knew what they were doing and really explained not only how to do the lift, but also how not to. I was pretty much hooked from day one. It was very humbling because even though I had worked out most my life I had never done most of the movements and plus the workouts were insane. The first time I went I truthfully thought the warm up was the WOD and remember thinking, that wasn’t too bad. The workout program is very rewarding; there is no doubt that if you attend regularly then you will see results. I feel better and sleep better than I have in years. I ride a desk most days so the work outs are a great way to blow off steam.
I have been at LandRush for over a year and I still get excited every time I walk in to the Gym. One of the things that I enjoy the most is the camaraderie with the other athletes. There is a team mentality, it is like we are all in this together. The Coaches and Athletes at LandRush could not be a better group of people, I look forward to seeing my friends every day probably more than the workout. I plan on attending LandRush for a long time, it is a great part of my daily life. Every once in a while I will go to a normal gym over lunch and I always think, “man how did I use to do this?”
